Just heard this website described in detail by the site’s developer on the BBC Outlook program. I can’t find the podcast yet but great little word games that bring ad revenue dollars to the UNFPA.
More here at the BBC (“Web game provides rice for hungry“)
Check out the site at FreeRice.com

Addictive and Fun!
SOmeone sent this to me last night and it is a very addictive site. So glad it has merit to it!
Use it and know that it is doing a good deed.
Check out this related Ethan Zuckerman post. Credit: I saw this on the TIER mailing list. Search for “freerice” on the page if you don’t want to read about Wikimedia and Radiohead. Here’s a brief excerpt:
FreeRice claims 73,566,480 grains of rice donated so far today… which sounds like a lot, until you realize that there are between 35,000 and 50,000 grains of rice in a kilogram. 1471 kilograms of rice donated in a day doesn’t sound like nearly as much. Especially when you discover that prevailing world prices for rice run at about $12 a hundredweight, or 45.5 kilos. 73 million grains might run about $387.
esta bien lo que hacen espero sea deveras suerte.
